Sarah Ettlinger had her solo exhibition at 24/8 gallery London, in February 2013, featuring paintings from a body of work entitled <Lost Innocence>. The captured moments of the children figuring in the paintings invoke the mischief and awkwardness of childhood and revere its beauty and spontaneity. They are set within an undefined space, interrupted only by their own scribbles and imaginary forms. The works focus on the expressions of exaggerated emotion within a private realm, but they also point to the gaze of an alienated adult, who no matter how intensely he looks, cannot see what is in his view, perhaps unable to penetrate into the almost mystic world of a lost innocence.
